Gemini CLI extension
parserail-gemini-extension is a Gemini CLI extension that adds native tools for financial-document work.
What Gemini gets
- Financial-document extraction turns invoices, receipts, bank and card statements, and embedded tables into schema-validated JSON. The JSON carries the vendor, line items, totals and normalized transactions.
- PII redaction strips names, emails, phones, SSNs and card numbers from text before you store or log it.
- Contract review returns parties, term, renewal, obligations and flagged risk clauses.
- The extension also provides general parsing, field extraction, classification, document comparison and splitting, plus about 30 more tools from the same API.
The extension runs the parserail-mcp MCP server. The MCP server page covers it.

The install asks for your ParseRail API key.
Get a key
You sign up on this site and buy credits with a $20 pack or a plan from $19/mo. ParseRail has no free tier. ParseRail keys look like ksk_live_….
Billing uses a credit wallet and charges per call. You pay only when a call succeeds. Errors cost nothing.
Use it
Gemini can work on a document:
> extract the line items from ./invoices/acme-march.pdf > redact the PII from this support transcript before I paste it into the ticket > review this contract and flag anything risky about renewal terms
Gemini routes each request through the right ParseRail tool, such as parserail_invoice, parserail_redact or parserail_contract, and returns structured JSON.
The bundled GEMINI.md tells the model which tool fits which document.
Requirements
- Node.js 18 or later. The MCP server runs through
npx. - A ParseRail API key in
